Seriously though, how much fun is the English language? No wonder it’s considered one of the hardest languages to learn, there’s so many words that sound the same and spelled the same yet have different meanings. Mind you it’s good for jokes though. I’ve said this many times before that I love word play jokes, one of my favourite’s is: “I went to a wedding for 2 TV antennas the other day, the wedding was rubbish, but the reception was amazing”. Classic. So one of my favourite word play types things is the bass/base, I even did one not that long ago actually (http://brinkscartoons.com/?p=1053). Now I’ve had the rough idea of a Bass fish playing a bass for some time, but it wasn’t until the other day when I was brainstorming ideas that I thought about ramping it up a bit and see just how much bass/base references I could get into the once sentence. Even I was surprised that I got 5 in the end, pretty sure that was all of them, did I miss one? I got the base/bottom of something, a base/building, a bass guitar, a bass fish and bass sound.
Originally I was going to draw the fish head in, but I really like the idea of randomly shoving in a real picture of something into a cartoon. I think I probably got that idea from this wacked out cartoon my kids watch all the time lately called “Uncle Grandpa” which is a full cartoon but one of the characters called “Giant Realistic Flying Tiger” is, well a giant realistic flying tiger. Now look I grew up with some weird cartoons, hell one of my all time favourites is Ren and Stimpy which pretty much started the whole “weird kids cartoon” thing in the first place, but man this cartoon is waaaay out there. It’s really cool actually, go check it out, my boys love it. I love cartoons, it’s so good having kids now that I have an excuse to watch them and no look like a weird old dude.
Anyway, I gotta go, see you next time!
